Book Releases on Aesthetics of Weather and Aesthetics of Atmospheres

Thrilled to share the release of two captivating new texts exploring Aesthetics of Weather and Aesthetics of Atmospheres

Diaconu, Madalina, Aesthetics of Weather

London, New York, Oxford, New Delhi, Sydney: Bloomsbury Academic, 2024 https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/aesthetics-of-weather-9781350416680/

This first book-length examination of an aesthetics of weather and climate is situated at the junction between environmental aesthetics, the aesthetics of atmosphere, and everyday aesthetics, without neglecting the implicit aesthetic of atmospheric sciences and the use of temperature and air(flows) in contemporary art. Diaconu’s approach connects the continental neo-phenomenology of atmosphere with the North American engaged environmental aesthetics and eco-phenomenology. Its scope of inquiry ranges from phenomenological analyses of temperature and tornadoes to atmospheric waste, and from the aesthetics of weather sayings to urban microclimates and the critique of weather consumption in the age of mass tourism.
